Visit to Kimberley

The sun came out for our tour of Kimberley. Marilyn Hammond, our tour guide, told us stories about the people and places of Kimberley through the years.We walked on some of the back streets of the community as well. We enjoyed refreshments after the tour.

The Purdy House is the oldest house in the village. It was built in 1860 by William Purdy. Beside it is Bishop House built in 1903 by Wallace S. Bishop.

Former Methodist Church built in 1885.
In 1925 it became the United Church.
It closed in 1970 and is now a residence.





The former blacksmith's shop.
It was built in 1903 by Tom Reid.

The Community Memorial Hall. It houses
the Kimberley branch of the Grey Highlands Public Library.

The Hammond House. It was built in 1898 by Michael R. Hammond. We ended the afternoon's tour by visiting the Hammond House and enjoying some delicious refreshments.
