Gerrit Jongkind, his wife Neeltje and their family of four children, ranging in age from three to fourteen, emigrated from the Netherlands in 1948 as did many other Dutch people at that time. They came here to work on farms and to make a new life for themselves and their families. Their oldest child, Joel, gives his viewpoint and expresses his recollections of those early years in Canada. Those recollections include the hardships, the struggles, the need to adapt and learn the English language as well as the success of those early immigrants.
