Annual Dinner - May 21, 2025

 

 

Wednesday, May 21 --- The historical society's Annual Dinner @ Royal Canadian Legion at 1450 2nd Avenue West, Owen Sound.

Guest speaker is Richard Thomas speaking about the Chi-Cheemaun.

 

Roast Beef dinner $30.00 paid in advance. Call to dinner @ 6 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for social time. Purchase tickets by May 11. Invite your friends to come with you.

The talk details the early history of the Owen Sound Transportation Company, the Ferry Service and decisions that led to the construction of the Chi-Cheemaun at the Collingwood Shipyard. The presentation incorporates interviews with shipyard workers, archival film and video footage, and passenger stories submitted during the writing of the book.
