100 years ago Canada was at war on the European front. Next month, Canadians will remember the contribution of Canadian soldiers at the Battle of Vimy Ridge.

George Auer in his new book, Soldiers of the Soil: Grey County Goes to War, 1914 - 1918, provides a readable account of what was happening at home and abroad during those years with archival photographs and maps. Also included is a complete list of the war memorials and cenotaphs in Grey County, the war medals which were presented to Grey County soldiers, and the most complete Grey County Great War Honour Roll ever published, with the names of over 4,000 soldiers.
