April Meeting in Markdale

We will meet in Markdale Wednesday, Wednesday April 21st 1:30 p.m.

Members of the GCHS are invited to visit The Solomon Hill House known today as Hollyhill Bed & Breakfast at 66 Toronto Street South, Markdale. (Highway #10) Built in 1896, this example of "Queen Anne Revival" expresses itself in a multiplicity of architectural styles and features exquisite 18th century interior woodwork.


Please gather by 2:30 p.m. at Cooke's Presbyterian Church Hall for the Annual Election & Business Meeting.

Then at 3:00 p.m. The public are also welcome to join the members to hear Ruth Cathcart, author of How Firm a Foundation; Historic Houses of Grey County and The Architecture of a Provincial Society: Houses of Bruce County, Ontario 1850-1900 will give an illustrated presentation of the Architecture of Grey & Bruce Counties. This area has many beautiful historic buildings.

Note: Tickets for the Annual Dinner on May 19 at the Walter's Falls Community Centre are available for purchase at the meeting. $22 each.
