Grey County Historical Society Visit to Rob Roy

Grey County Historical Society enjoyed true country hospitality when we met recently at the former Rob Roy School house, now the Osprey Museum. The following is the report of the evening from our communication's chair, Paula Niall.

The June meeting of the Grey County Historical Society was held in the 1887 Rob Roy School house, now the Osprey Museum. Jill Badjeros and the Osprey Museum Board of Directors were on hand to welcome the Society and answer any questions as the group of about 30 members and guests examined the Museum’s displays. Some members took time to explore the storage shed containing early farming machines and equipment.

The Society was invited to enjoy tea and coffee along with a generous spread of delicious desserts while listening to a recording of one of the early historians of Osprey. This was followed by an illustrated presentation of the GCHS’s activities and accomplishments of the past year. A time of networking and socializing followed.

Previous to the evening meeting, members met for dinner at the historic Singhampton Inn.

The next monthly gathering of the group will take place July 15 at 6 p.m. at Cedarcroft the home of Michael and Christine Kirby where the Society will enjoy a Pot-luck supper after which Suzanne Purdy, Curator of theCraigleith Heritage Depot will give an illustrated presentation on “The Craigleith Depot-An Iconic Landmark”
