October meeting - Among the antiques and memorabilia

Antiques and memorabilia of Owen Sound and area surrounded members and guests of the Grey County Historical Society at the October 2009 meeting.

Norm and Jackie Playter have been gathering Owen Sound antiques and memorabilia and many of these were on display this past Wednesday. On hand to help them with the questions were their friends, Nancy, Al and Ed. We were made most welcome.

My own particular interest was their large collection of photographs and postcards.

Owen Sound antiques

Do you have antiques in your home? Do you collect them? Do you collect memorabilia?

Norm and Jackie Playter have a large collection of Owen Sound antiques that they have collected. At the October meeting of the Grey County Historical Society, they will share with those in attendance what they have collected that relates to the history of Owen Sound.

All are welcome on October 21, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at Norjack Antiques, north of Springmount.

Norm introduced us to some of his artifacts at our February potluck lunch. Will he stump us with some items in his collection?

Society table at BGOGS fall event

On Saturday, September 26, 2009, the Bruce Grey Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society hosted its annual fall event with several presentations by Evva Benson from Salt Lake City. The Grey County Historical Society was represented at the event by Past President, Tom Cole. Here he is at the Society table.
