Wanted - Local Historians and Genealogy Buffs

Wanted

local historians and genealogy buffs interested in learning more about an original Derby Township resident, Nathaniel Harriman. He was a member of one of the first twenty families to settle near the Garafraxa Road in 1839.

Nathaniel is the 3rd great grandfather of Paul Eugene Harriman (Banko). Paul is coming all the way from Fairhope, Alabama (near Mobile) to speak about the interesting history of the Harriman line, beginning with their 1638 arrival in Massachusetts from England and their eventual migration to Upper Canada in 1797 as "Simcoe Loyalists".

With local cousins present, Paul and his wife Sheila promise to tell a good story and perhaps stimulate your current or future interest in local history. It includes: war stories, tragedy, kidnapping, ghosts, con-men, arson, and good and bad luck!

It sounds like a programme you won't want to miss.

So when is it?
August 19th at 1:30 p.m. at Grey Roots Theatre (on the same road as the original Harriman property)

For more information contact Paula Niall 519-372-0225 or info AT greycountyhs DOT ca

Everyone is welcome to attend. No charge. A short business meeting will precede the presentation.
